Christmas 2009

We have been unable to produce a show this year; however we are looking forward to our Carol Concert which we hold every year and join with other singers. Both audience and choir are large and are joined by a brass quintet. It is informal, but of a high standard and huge fun for all involved. We are looking to swell the choir numbers with people who simply enjoy singing on occasions like this and are prepared to attend the few rehearsals. Previous years have been tremendously successful with much enthusiasm from the singers. This will be our 32nd annual concert.

The programme will take its usual form with carols for choir, some audience participation, items for the brass and a couple of readings.

If you have taken part in previous years you will know what fun it is and we should be delighted to welcome you back. If you know of others who might be interested, please invite them along, we shall be delighted to see them.

The dates are as follows:

Tuesday8 December7.45pm Rehearsal
Thursday10 December 7.45pm Rehearsal
Tuesday15 December7.45pm Rehearsal
Thursday17 December7.45pm Rehearsal
Sunday20 December2.30pm Rehearsal (with Brass)
7.45pm Concert

The first rehearsal will be in St Mark's Church, Bourne End, roughly opposite the station. All other rehearsals will take place in the Small Hall of the Bourne End Community Centre.

The pattern of rehearsals is roughly

  • 1st rehearsal, a thorough look at new pieces and any of the more difficult ones we have performed before,
  • 2nd rehearsal, revision of some of these and a look at other carols sung by choir alone,
  • 3rd rehearsal, rehearsal of everything except the best known (by us) of the carols for choir and audience,
  • 4th rehearsal, complete run of the whole programme,

On the Sunday afternoon we shall run the whole programme with the brass quintet.

Please join us in the choir, or just come along on the 20th December.
